The Kerner grape, a cross of white Riesling and red Trollinger (Schiava), takes its light color and character from its first parent. Aromatic and high in acid, it can improve with age.

Unlike many hybrid varieties, Kerner is named not for its viticulturalist but the 19th-century German poet Justinus Kerner, noted for his drinking songs. So don’t be surprised if a glass or two inspires you to verse!
